Dear Friends,
Today, the State announced it will be keeping current masking and physical distancing guidance for fully vaccinated individuals as it is until June 15. LA County will be aligning with the State to continue masking requirements for everyone at large indoor and outdoor events, on public transportation, at schools, and at all retail and business establishments that are open to the public until June 15.
As a reminder, current mask guidance allows fully vaccinated people to be without a mask in outdoor settings in non-crowded situations, but must keep their masks on indoors in all public settings. And for unvaccinated people, masks are still required outdoors any time distancing cannot be maintained, as well as in all indoor public settings. By keeping existing precautions in place in LA County until June 15, we have additional time to increase vaccination rates and develop sensible guidance to give our businesses further clarity and to protect our essential workers. Workplaces also remain under Cal/OSHA masking and distancing requirements, which have not yet changed.
But the CDC’s recommendation is the clearest signal we have that vaccinations are the key to finally putting this pandemic behind us. With this date in mind, I highly encourage any resident who has not had a chance to get vaccinated to do so now. It’s never been easier, and many sites across the County don’t require an appointment!
